TV or not TV?
It s difficult to imagine our life without television though the introduction
of it seems to have caused lots of problems. I think that each person
needs recreation facilities and if one can t have them out of home
he s used to have them at home. Almost the only recreation facility
we can have is television. Earlier people went to movie-theatre to
have a rest with their friends. Now it is not so popular: at all number
of cinema-goers is reducing as everybody can watch any film or show
at home. Modern TV sets give us a possibility to have a perfect rest
with the help of tame TV screen and magnificent sound. So that s why
such great numbers of people watch TV all day long. It doesn t matter
for them what kind of TV program they watch. Lots of people especially
children are slows of this medium. Of course television plays an essential
role in our life. We must watch it to be well-inform of the world
and national events. TV educates a lot. It tells us about different
countries, oceans, seas, unusual birds, lowers, insects and animals.
Lots of TV programs involve us into conversation: they make a person
think and go through lot of arguments. TV can be useful for children:
it helps to understand the world around them. I quite agree that television
is both food for thoughts and wonderful entertainment. It often makes
us consider serious problems. Any man find something to his liking.
As far as I concerned TV attracts me with a large number of programs
about art, museums, and galleries. I also like sports and music programs,
films and shows. Television gives us a chance to lose ourselves in
the fantastic world of cinema. We become the characters of films;
we feel compassion and joy watching TV. No doubt that television is
one of the greatest inventions of the 20 century. But in spite of
these things we should remember that television is a double-edged
sword. You can say that nobody imposes TV on us but it very simple
to make it the most important thing in our life. The visual sense
attracts so much that you can face the screen for hours and not understanding
what is on. What s more statistics says that lots of youngsters are
not able to understand abstract ideas. TV pushes out not only books
and sports from our life but also other visual arts that are less
popular, for example, theatre. Television spoils our eye-sight and
so if you watch it too long your eyes are tired and it may cause deterioration
of you vision. Of course television has a lot of disadvantages but
I can t agree with people who say that TV gets on their nerves; they
forget that each TV set can be switched off. Moreover they sometimes
impose all their problems on TV saying that it spoils their life greatly.
May be the cause of it is not in TV programs but in their own moral
state and family relations.
So we can see that television has lots of advantages and disadvantages.
Of course it s very comfortable having got a TV set at home. But sometimes
we become the slaves of usual sense even not understanding it and
forgetting about all other facilities. I think that one should always
remember that television is not the only manliest thing in our life
but only one of them. Without any doubt TV plays am important role
in our spiritual existence but remember that everything should be
kept in reasonable reasons. There is a good proverb: Business before
pleasure. We shouldn t forget that there is something a lot to do
and we can t afford watching TV all day long. Above all we can remember
that there is lots of interesting things except TV in our life to
enjoy.
